CHRISTABELL'S STATEMENT
“My focus relating to HIV/AIDS became my concern as I saw my fellow colleagues losing hope in all after learning of their HIV+ status. Passionately through the information I gained on matters relating to the fight and stigma towards HIV/AIDS and also by meeting young people surviving on HIV/AIDS, I managed to bring together young people both infected and affected with HIV/AIDS to be empowered and to be able to reach out to their fellow youth. The initiatives have given me a lot of satisfaction and more of a reason to wake up in the morning meeting young people and listening to them and forging ways forward on how to empower them”.

Francis Ongeso - Department Coordinator

Francis has stayed in Jericho for over two decade and so he understands the challenges in the area having schooled with most of the youth in Jericho. Having observed the idleness of the youth in Jericho Estate due to unemployment and seen the tendencies of the young to join criminal gangs Francis joined hands with a number of similar minded Jericho residents wishing to give the youth a chance by mobilizing them to offer community services at a cost such as garbage collection, land scaping, gardening and washing cars. The youth were later on brought together under one association and a community resource centre was conceptualized to address the needs of this young generation. Francis continues to have a passion to give hope to the youth.
